Jeffrey Herman

Jeffrey Herman is a South Florida civil litigator who specialized in representing alleged victims in civil lawsuits.

Herman was previously a law partner with Jeffrey Sloman at a boutique law firm in Miami before Sloman joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office as First Assistant U.S. Attorney.

According to a May 2008 letter from Epstein’s defense attorneys to Deputy Attorney General Mark Filip, Herman’s relationship with federal prosecutors raised serious appearance of impropriety concerns:

  1. Civil Lawsuits: By May 2008, Herman had filed several civil lawsuits against Jeffrey Epstein on behalf of alleged victims, with most lawsuits seeking $50 million in damages.

  2. Government Victim List: The defense team stated they understood that each of Herman’s clients appeared on the Government’s confidential “list of victims.”

  3. Unusual Federal Terms: Federal prosecutors made the unusual demand that Epstein pay the fees of a civil attorney chosen by the prosecutors to represent alleged victims should they choose to bring civil litigation. They proposed sending a notice stating that if victims chose their own attorney, Epstein would not be required to pay their fees.

  4. Former Partnership: As of two months before the May 2008 letter, Jeffrey Sloman was still publicly listed as part of Herman’s former law firm, which the defense team noted “raises the appearance of impropriety.”

Herman was quoted in the Palm Beach Post as saying that “it doesn’t matter” that his clients lied about their ages and told Epstein they were 18 or 19.

Jeffrey Herman appears in the Epstein Files as a civil attorney with alleged conflicts of interest due to his prior law partnership with First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sloman and his representation of alleged victims whose cases were being promoted by federal prosecutors.
